One-Day Trip At Osam Parvat
The trekking and nature experience trip of NSS
students to Osam Parvat was organized by the NSS Department of the college. A
natural mountainous area near Dhoraji, which has a height of about 307 meters
and is known as the hidden gem of Saurashtra. The one-day trip with 50 NSS
students and NSS coordinators and staff was organized by the NSS Department,
with the aim of increasing awareness of nature among the students, promoting
physical fitness and developing a sense of teamwork. Osam Parvat is located
near Patanvav in Rajkot district of Gujarat State. During this trip, the
students trekked on the ups and downs of the mountain and enjoyed the beautiful
views of nature. The bus departed from the college at 7 am. On the way, the
students were given information about the history and environmental importance
of the magnificent mountain. This mountain is known as the hidden gem of
Saurashtra. The trekking started after reaching the foot of the mountain at
around 10 am. The trekking route was about 2-3 kilometers long, in which the
students had to climb the steep trails of the mountain. The students visited
the Jinalaya and Shivling there, the Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple where water
drops naturally fall on the Shivling. A picnic was organized near the lake and
dam at the top, where the students had lunch and played group games. During
this, a discussion was held on environmental awareness, in which the students
were told about plastic-free mountains and forest conservation. In the
afternoon, they trekked down the mountain and returned to the college at 5 pm.
First aid kits were arranged for safety during the entire trip. The students
described this experience as unforgettable and felt connected with nature.
